Penn Gastroenterology (GI) is a national leader in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal diseases and disorders. We combine the latest technological advancements with the expertise of our renowned physicians, improving the health and quality of life for those with digestive system disorders. Penn Gastroenterology is at the forefront of GI patient care, education, and research. We care for approximately 200 patients diagnosed with Eosinophilic Esophagitis. In addition to caring for adults with eosinophilic esophagitis, our joint Penn-CHOP Center for Digestive, Liver and Pancreatic Medicine is the only one in the country with a specific focus on transitioning children with eosinophilic esophagitis to adult gastroenterology care. Our goal is to provide inter-disciplinary care (gastroenterologists, allergists, nutritionists and others) together to deliver state of the art care and access to clinical trials to all patients with eosinophilic esophagitis as they make the transition from adolescence to young adulthood (age 18). This unique program offers our patients a unified approach from both pediatric and adult practitioners. Equally important goals include understanding the biology of EoE and genetics through basic, translational and clinical research. Through CEGIR we hope to improve the lives of all patients with eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorders.
